Dr. Greder presented
thought-provoking
ideas on how to measure R&D productivity. He shared his
firsthand experiences from implementing a measurement system
and balanced scorecard to manage new product development. He
also described a list of "8 steps to successful measurement"
to help R&D personnel to avoid the pitfalls
and problems. Ed Koullick, Materials and Bioscience, Medtronic
Wow. Great presentation. I loved the message. Would it be possible to get a copy of your slides? I have a few biotech firms that need to hear your message. Gene Goddard, Bioscience Industry Analyst, Department of Employment & Economic Department
Very
animated speaker. He kept our attention! His experience made
his comments credible.
Great
value for NPD team leaders or members of NPD teams.
We can all learn a few things about problem solving even
if we think we are already good critical thinkers. Dr. Greder’s
presentation on critical thinking provided meaningful insight
into how we can more effectively solve problems and also gave
us practical tools to use to meet today’s challenges. C
Jones, QTS Packaging Solutions
There is definitely a positive ROI with their approach.

Rod Greder clearly understands the audience, and develops his presentation to fit their needs. He has great take-away information for those that attend his presentations. His resources for the audience continue after he leaves - he'll follow up with them and send them more information! I would highly recommend Rod as a speaker and trainer. Judy Goldetsky, President, On Call Clinicians, Inc.
I learned the root causes of our communication shortcomings at the seminar "GeekSpeak meets SalesTalk" presented by New Productivity Group. The seminar presented the differences in the mind-set or thinking of different disciplines that drive how we interpret and respond in our interactions. The material was so well presented that we asked them to provide training at Nonin. During the training, I saw light bulbs turn on for many people as they experience their "aha" moments. The responses from the participants ranged from a paradigm shift ("I had no idea, but it makes sense") to crystallizing the problem ("I had a gut-feeling about the problem). As a company, we plan to invest in additional training in this area since it will dramatically contribute to our success. Kim Windingland, Engineering Manager, Nonin Medical
The recent
seminar on innovation provided valuable and broadly applicable
insight from a remarkable lineup of speakers…The presentations
and material had universal appeal to everyone from new entrepreneurs
to scientists, engineers and executives at Fortune 100 companies….The
seminar was time well spent and I look forward to attending
future New Productivity Group presentations. Sales Executive,

A
great job in relating marketing info and theory to technical
personnel. Thanks!
Down

Measuring the effectiveness of product development is a notoriously
difficult subject. We know that most of the ideas generated at the early stages of development do not
turn into successful products. Dr. Greder presented
a strong case for the use of balanced, well-publicized measures
to improve new product development performance. He
supported his positions with both industry statistics and
specific examples
that resonated with the audience. Brian Cohn, Technical
Sales Manager, Sheldahl
I found the seminar
to be extremely worthwhile; I would attend and recommend additional
seminars on new product development from New Productivity
Group. Helene Schultz, Product Manager, Unisys
I
do not know of another source in the Twin Cites that is providing
this type of concentrated need-to-know information in new
product development complete with case studies from leading
companies. Their choice of topics is spot on and the speakers
are knowledgeable and credible. Lorna Slott, President, The Pony Finders.
I found the seminar very insightful led by excellent speakers. It was well worth the time and money to attend. Most R&D groups I've worked with have not had the training to understand the commercial side of their projects and Rod & Company do this very well. Fin. Mgr.
The conference, Improving Productivity of New Product Development, was an excellent session that combined theory and practice. The speakers were experts in their fields who delivered content in an engaging way that met the needs of the participants. I highly recommend that any person in a management position attend this seminar with an open mind. Anita Whitaker, Founder, Split Rock Communications
Entertaining discussion, real world examples and stories that were very powerful.
Our application
of Team-based innovation principles resulted in significant
and multiple process improvements and increased staff engagement
at all levels. The use of brainstorming and problem-solving
tools combined with linking the team’s output directly to
measurable business results has increased productivity significantly. David Gilliland, Dow AgroSciences/Mycogen
“GeekSpeak meets
SalesTalk: Why technical and commercial staffs struggle to
communicate and what to do about it!" identified key
communication and motivation issues that hinder productivity
of new product development teams. Dr. Greder helped the
members of Sales and Marketing Executives to
understand that effective product development teams have
a clear understanding of the motivations and key objectives
of the various disciplines represented. He encouraged them
to think proactively about improving collaboration with their technical colleagues and vice
versa. Eric Engwall, Regional Director-Sales Effectiveness,
Personnel Decisions International
Coming from the Sales and Marketing side, and having worked
closely with product development teams, I see the benefits
of enhanced communication, collaboration and creativity of
key R&D professionals when programs like Sales+ For Scientists
are implemented. Kevin Hannigan, Founder, Roland Mann

I think you are an excellent speakre with lots of good subject matter.
New Productivity Group's presentation on ROI of R&D provides
practical do's and don'ts on measuring new product development
productivity. Dr. Greder offers objective metrics and
useful tools for new product portfolio managers - the
gatekeepers of precious resources. James Woodman,
Ph.D. Principal, McGee Creek Partners
I
enjoyed the entire conference. Specifically, your presentation
on ROI of R&D drove home an important point - linking R&D
work to the needs/demands of the customer - and measuring
that - very well.
Business Development Manager, Large Food Company

use of my time, was filled with speakers that stretched my
brain into innovating, challenged my ways of thinking, and
helped me practice brainstorming.

Dr. Greder's own experiences in product development leadership add practical credibility to his seminars. The workshop on Enhancing Cross-Functional Communication presents tools and processes that are very specific and useful to product development organizations.
New Productivity Group's program on "How to measure ROI of R&D" challenged us to consider new ways to measure productivity of new product development and provided us with real world advice on how to set up a measurement system. The program was fast-paced, interactive and reinforced the key points to improve retention. Program Manager, Minnesota Technology, Inc
